I just bought my second floating license, received the "License Validation Key" from NL and tried to activate the license with the Reprise License Server Web Interface. ( It actually froze after I pushed the button 'next")

As I understood it I have to activate the second license (which I would use on my MacPro running Win8) on the computer that runs the RLM License Server. Correct?

Now, while running Maxwell Studio on the MacPro that also acts as the RLM Server, I try to open Maxwell Studio on the other MacPro running Win8 and I states that I do not have a license.

Either the second license has yet not been verified via the RLM Server online because it froze or something else is wrong here.

Any ideas? Am I missing something?

Q!

could it be the machine running rlm didn't have internet access when you activated the license?

Hi,

If the license server is properly installed and you buy another seat, you don't need to change the setup in the network manager, nor accessing to RLM Web Interface. All you need to do is to run the license activation tool in the new seat and select the option "Maxwell Render Suite - Floating - connect to the license server already running". That option just writes a one line license file that specifies the IP/name of the machine where the license server is running, using a default port (that can be changed). Have you tried to do so? If that fails please disable the firewall to see if that is the cause and if so add an exception to it.

Thanks,

Yes I did that, no firewall running!

Hi

If you havent already done so, could you please write to the support team (via the customer gateway contact form)? That way we can have all your specific account details to hand to answer your query.

Many thanks

so... any news?

I see my second license now in the Customer gateway. But I still can NOT use my license on my second computer!

ALL firewalls on my computers are turned off, all virus software deactivated but still I can not get WON 8 to use my second license.

I also de-insatlled Maxwell on both machines and reinstalled with the latest builds found in the customer gateway today. (3.0.0-2)

But no luck either.

ANYONE!??

Hi,

If you but several licenses separately there are two ways to go:

1- You validate the first one (it seems in your case it was already working) and when you validate the second one (in both cases you have to choose the option:
"Maxwell Render Suite - Floating (activate the RLM License Server or add more Floating seats or rendernodes to the existing one)"

If the license validator tool finds an existent "maxwell_suite_floating.lic" file it will ask you if you want to override it or append the contents at the end. If you choose to append it, you should have both licenses validated into the same file, and after re-reading the RLM license server all should work. You have to do this ONLY on the computer that's running the RLM server.

2- You can ask us through the customer portal to unify both keys into a single one (that is not really necessary because the first step should work fine, but this is a possibility anyway)
