Hi all,

here's a little project I just completed - two Hifi speakers.
Background ist from a bigger project I'm actually working on, so work on this one is limited to the speakers.
5 hours of modelling and texturing / testing in Cinema 4D all in all.
6 hours of rendering on my G5 veteran :-)
Little bit of post/tweaking in PS of course.

Cheers

mmmh. looks like you could lower the burn value a bit to avoid the blown-out area on the small top speaker.

another lighting setup might help as well - but I'm not sure how this would integrate in your scene...

Thank you very much for the critiques, I've tried to update the pic according to these points.

I've worked on an updated image of the speakers, ... still going... :-)

Looking really good.
I'd make the gaps in the speaker mesh much wider though, so you can actually see the grid of the weaving. I don't feel like I'm looking through fabric, I feel like I'm looking through tinted black glass.

Thx hatts, I fully agree... still struggling with that part, but I'm confident to solve that :D

cool image!

a bit dark though, the only thing i find irritating is the anisotropic reflection on the metallic coated membranes visible on the lower speaker; asfaik the metal is applied in a vaporous way, so the micro bump is rather omni-directional

quickly looking for some example:

Thx to both of you!

@polynurb: here is a photo of my reference, is this the effect you're mentioning?

Fascinating!

I have not yet seen a "brushed" membrane like that, considering your reference image you really hit it with the render !

Exactly what I thought :)
Badly textured model! But wait -that molten micro-smear on the polished aluminium look bezel looks stunning.

Ok, it's a photo.
But who manufactures such?
