Cool, thanks.
His thoughts on 'knowing less about the world in order to learn more' is pretty odd though, but I guess he is just trying to pump some deep artistic meaning into his hobby.

However, I do agree with him to a certain extent.

I used to crave knowledge but the phrase 'Ignorance is Bliss' is becoming more and more attractive the more I learn.

Don't get me wrong, I love to learn new material, it just seems to hurt my brain the more I know

While not as philosophical as his stance (which many artists feel the need to overstate for the sake of appealing to/fending off intellectualism), I have a similar artistic ideology -- which could be summed up as: "the more you know the less you see".

A simple statement -- but I think a truth that many overlook. Once you believe you "know" something you stop looking at it with inquiring eyes... only as long as you are actively trying to learn are you actually capable of learning.

This is part of why I reject the popular concept (in modern art) that "realism" is pointless and it has all been done before.

That said, I really like his work... thanks for sharing :D

Best,
Jason.

To both above, I can't agree with you more. I am still very young but I make a constant effort to perceive the world with fresh eyes.
I don't indulge in such reckless pass-times anymore but I used to use psychedelics to refresh my perceptions in the past...
One of the reasons I love 3d rendering so much is; through the process I perceive the object as if I were seeing it for the first time, in a way.
My whole life I have been surrounded by artists, and while agreeing with many ideologies, and having been an 'artist' throughout my entire 'education', I am tired of people pumping bullshit meaning into what is probably just a hobby/pass-time/moneymaker.
Don't get me wrong, I actually very much like his work, Just doubt he was thinking 'we could know more about the world by reading less' when he was carving the bridge of Khazad-dûm into an old hardback.
Best,

Jules
