Hello there,

I'm using Sketchup and the Maxwell Suite and I am working on a building project with wooden louvre screens.
I haven't applied any textures yet and I am wondering how to that efficiently.

The goal is to generate a large wooden texture and apply it to each single wooden louvre profile with some sort of randomized offset.

I could do this manually but as there are a bunch of louvres (and even more wooden decking and cladding) in this project, it would be very time-consuming.

Do you know any trick or a plugin for Sketchup or a way to randomize the textures in Maxwell Studio efficiently?

Thanks for any help

one way I have done this is to make something like the slats in your louvers, or each of the louvers, components-depending on how much time you have.

And apply the wood texture, then I flip the slats on x/y/z individually to try for a random effect.

I would take a look at the making of article on Ronen's site:

http://www.ronenbekerman.com/making-of- ... chsteiner/

Specifically, skip down to the "Texturing/UV Mapping/Materials" section where he states:
Almost all the textures are hand painted based on www.cgtextures.com images. Some of them were Arroway Textures Concrete and Stonework ones.

For the outdoor floor tiles I decided to do only two variations of a 4×4 Square. I randomly distributed them in SketchUP via the Extrapolate Colors plugin by Chris Fulmer and Texture randomizer by TIG to get enough variation in the tiles.
I think that might be right up your alley: create a few different wood texture (slightly darker, slightly lighter, flipped, etc) and use the texture randomizer to apply them to the louvres.
