I'm considering selling my Maxwell 2 license because last time used it was somewhere end 2011/2012. It is a great render but I moved on and don't offer services in the field of product viz.
In history it was not allowed as far as I remember but this has been broken up in 7/2012 by highest European Court. Since NextLimit is located in Spain the rules apply too and a sale is permitted.
As an easy reading article this applies quite well: http://www.pcpro.co.uk/news/375643/eu-c ... e-licences

Whats the offical statement here about license transfers? Any experiences? I know for example Adobe has a form to fill out to transfer the license.

The European Court of Justice ruled in July people do indeed have the right to resell software they've purchased. If mr. Betke wants to sell his MW license, he can.

Yes but I think being able to do something from a legal point is not always best to it then.

If NextLimit is okay with it then I may will sell the license. If not I may keep it here. I also guess there is a legal hole in all this sell used licenses. Mostly developers/companies have a article that they can terminate a license without big reasons.
So they could be "okay" with selling it but then terminate the license with the new licensee.

But maybe it is more a topic for an email not for an public forum. ;)

Hi Michael

Thanks for your query. You are correct - you can legally resell your license, and since this recent court ruling we do now have a procedure in place for license transfer (involving a form and signature from both previous and new owners). The license itself can legally be transfered into another name, what is not transfered with it is the support and maintenance of the software. The support and maintenance can be purchased (from us) by the new owner it's approx the price of an upgrade.

If you would like further details about the license transfer procedure, please feel free to contact the sales dept by email (via the customer gateway forms, that way you get a quicker response).

I hope this helps
