Now you have set the focus to the hunchback of the monster. Hmmm, most in photography the focus of animals or people is on the eyes. The hunchback of the monster catch the eye more than the face.

Did you wait a little ?
If the ply file contains a "heavy" (very dense) object then Rhino will take its time to display the mesh and even after you see it in the viewport it will pan and zoom slowly.

Also, I think there is an alternate PLY importer plugin writen by Matthew Woehlky (sp?) you may want to try. I will see if I can find it.

Which ply file are you trying ?

Jack094 wrote:I downloaded the armadillo scan.tar and extracted the large group of PLY files to a seperate folder. Rhino omly lets you import one at a time there are about 10 for each part of the beast. How come its in so many pieces?

Do you have to put it together like a puzzle...

oh, I see.

There is a large download (30Mb) ... do not use that one. It comes in pieces (as you found out) and then you have to use the conf file coordinate data to reconstruct the mesh pieces... anyway do not use that one.

Use the Vripped reconstruction (this file is already put together):
