Is the half price upgrade $495 ? Or is it half of that ? $250 ? So the normal upgrade price is $1000 ?
I'm thinking about upgrading my Maxwell license or Arion/Fry, haven't decided yet.

 maybe next time they release a new version you'll have to switch to maya and communicate by letter with the "support" instead of Fartbook

The upgrade price is 172,50€ incl. 5 free nodes (50% of 345€). You can see this if you log in to the "customer gateway" and click on "Buy/Upgrade licenses! ;)

Jenny Fermor wrote:Just to add- prices in dollars are US$395 for a standard upgrade, so with the current promo that's $197.50!

If you need any further assistance please write to me directly at maxwelldesk@nextlimit.com

Yeah thats bloody annoying policy those guys have, to ditch their forums they must of been sick of the bad mouthing :)

Okay I missed the login in part to the customer gateway, so I couldn't see any upgrade prices, now I just have to figure out which email address and password I used :).

9 days left to think about which upgrade to buy. Any reasons why you think I should go with Maxwell ? One thing I want to play with is grass.

cheers

I was curious so I bought Arion, or whatever the Max plugin/Arion thing is called, while the upgrade from Fry was still cheap.

If you can only swing one then hands down you should go with Maxwell upgrade.

Definitely.

Thanks Brett,

I'll end up getting both in the long run, I just need one at the moment to fill my Render junkie habit :)

Yeah, I know how that goes :)

I think Maxwell will give you a lot more in the short to middle run. Hard to say where Arion will net out. It shows some promise for sure, but I've learned to be more than a little wary of RC so we'll just have to see.

Maxwell and NL are always a solid bet.

Its only for tinkering with, to see what Maxwell is up too. I'm still happy with what I'm using for work.

Whats Maxwell's network rendering like ? Is all the merging all automated these days ?

It's automated. I find it pretty reliable, but like anything else - it has it's moments. In fairness though, I use 5-6 machines with 3 different versions of windows on a network that I built. Some glitches can be forgiven ;)

I've become a bigger fan of render farms, Rebus in particular, for Maxwell renders though. I'm likely going to phase out my little farm over time and just spend the dough that way from here on in. YMMV.

bad mouthing?!? :o I think they just wanted to avoid the posts of all the annoyed customers who have noticed that RC has quit their plugin and forgot about the promise they made that all old fry/arion customers will get one free Live plugin as compensation for the RC5 cancellation!
Maybe THEY call it bad mouthing, yes...
