Well, and I feel that we all are a tad too old for Kindergarden.

My most important qestion actually was a request.
I politely asked to share the Zbrush-File and some Vector-Displacement-specific export-settings, (flip and switch) so that I can replicate what he did.
I've spent hours to get this working myself while following along what Pixologic suggests but did not end up with anything usable.

Heres an attempt at applying at small scale (uses 30gigs ram, slow to voxelise). There seem to be issues with the export from C4D and I needed to reverse the normals, at the end of the day its a pain pain pain and grass does a much better job of this, or hair if your using MAX. Vector disp Vs disp seems like a normal Vs bump, it works best for undulating things not itty bitty things...

Feeling pissed off.. it was really hard to make this work.. and interface glitches with the scale input in mxed.. grrrrr...... going to play TF2 for a while...

you're crazy for even trying that method at that scale, hence why i suggested tiling instanced meshes in order to conserve memory. major kudos nonetheless. shows you tried

given all the options and explanations that have been explored and illustrated per topic, is it now safe to say we can explore the option of "maxwell grass" for creating carpet? an option which has been mentioned once or 12 times for such a scenario without any examples? not to mention, an option which is available to all users regardless of platform/pipeline through mxstudio? or should we tie this thread to a weight and let it slowly sink?

Yes. Wrap the thread in a plastic bag, make sure air can escape to prevent resurfacing, tie it with multiple loops of wire, attach a concrete block to it, dump it in the next best lake. Alternatively, the thread could be put below the basement formwork on a nearby construction site so that concrete fixes and hides it. Either way, it should ideally be done in the early morning hours of Sunday to minimise the risk of someone noticing.
