Any features you'd like to see implemented into Maxwell?

it would be great if you could point to a folder and have MXED auto generate MXM's from the image files within the folder.

For instance, I bought some of the Arroway textures. I would like to be able to point to a folder and say:

1. create materials with one layer and two bsdf's

2. set the layers at 80 & 20 weight

3. identify groups of textures that will be used for each MXM by defining the first 10 or so characters in the file names.

4. identify which files will fill which slots, for instance:

A. files that end in D.jpg go in slot Reflectance 0 on BSDF #1 & BSDF#2

B. files that end in R.jpg go in slot Roughness 0 on BSDF#2

5. identify values for settings not receiving textures

6. continue in this manner to fill all the desired slots and settings.

7. let the script run.

8. many MXM's are automatically created

The goal is not to get the perfect MXM but to automate the time consuming part and then let you go in and fine tune the MXM's.

I've made thousands of MXM's at this point and every time I'm doing a set I wish for some form of automation in MXED +1!!

I would simplify this to simply tell the script to take textures in folder "1" and plug into slots "a" -- and textures in folder "2"
to plug into slots "b"... which seems more foolproof.

I don't need the scripts to do everything for me, but some automation would be a godsend.

Best,
Jason.

I can also vouch for PyMaxwell -- it is astoundingly robust, and can batch create and batch edit MXMs... including pulling data from spreadsheets (in the form of CSV files).

I'm trying to learn more about Python in my spare time because this is a revolutionary tool for Maxwell users.

Best,
Jason.

So, is this a known issue?

Thanks a lot for your response, I will update and […]

did you tried luxCore?
