Please post here anything else (not relating to Maxwell technical matters)

Just a teaser comparing 2.6 with 2.6.1, both rendered for 10 min:
Good news! Although I don't use SSS because I do only arch exteriors it is nice to have an update so soon!

Aniki wrote:thanks, but I'm not registered.. does it "match" the maxwell material the way you would suggest it ?
Well, the settings won't fit from Maxwell to Arion, so instead of trying to get something similar, this material intends to mimic the material that the Maxwell render is reproducing. I'd rather try to match a real material on a photo than try to match a material that is already trying to match the real world xD hope it makes sense. We all try to reproduce reality here, not another render, no matter how good it is.

Edit: here is a direct link to a version with a "better" color match.

Edit2: It'd be cool to have a speed comparision, with & without GPU, also a final super clean render for both engines to compare final render quality (even if material skills are envolved here, we can be fairly confident that the results will be top notch!) without taking render time into the equation and compare them to photos too.

Hi again Raph, sorry about my post earlier but it's a old habit that kicked in when i saw you on the forum first time in months. I instantly knew something was cooking.. :)
How have you been doing ? i haven't seen or heard anything from you in maybe two years or more now. I hope all is well.

Mihai: That looks like a pretty significant improvement already, keep up the good work guys! :)

I'm looking forward to see more results of this test.

I noticed aswell, but I suppose its only some gammashift, right ?
@Aniki: Don't you dare touch the gamma :D lifting the iso will do the job!

@Magnus: Everything is great! what about you? Here we have to deal with huge amount of work, pull out entire projects with 5-6 renders in less than a week. It is stressful but rewarding :) Some new renders on my gallery if you wanna check, still boring archviz tho :D http://gallery.realistic-design.com

Good to hear that Raph :) i'm alright but moved over from 3D to photography because there were more and better paid work there for me so i keep 3D as a hobby for now. I can see by looking at your site that you have been very busy lately hehe. You must have been spitting out new stuff on a daily basis, it's looking great though!

The scene match much better now

Maxwell Render

Arion

Arion uses the custom polyurethane shader from thxraph

I left them both to render overnight on different machines, so its just a visual quality comparison this time ;)

Right now I started cross-renderings, so Arion is rendering with the exact shader settings from the maxwell polyurethane and Maxwell vice versa with thxraph's shader..
