Hi all,

Some of you don't like this litlle blur in the images. ( Is just a pixel blur ). Most cameras works in this way. Some people like, other not, but I'm going to reduce it for the next patch.

In any case, is nothing related to noise reduction as I have read. Is impossible to reduce noise in this way ( and if you do, you get worse results ). The maxwell improvements in speed are related to a new and faster core render. Is unbisiased, as always has been, and always will be.

Best regards,

Thanks for the confirmation oscar.

Would it be worth having it as a choosable option in the render dialogue?

Thanks for the info, Oscar, and congrats for the beta. Render options are like magic. I'm not sure this blur thing is so good, though, especially since it don't look so nice at low or medium res, that is for most renders you can see around here. Maybe if we have more control over it it would be more usefull.

One important question. We have detected a bug when rendering with -hd option in comand line, that makes lot of blur. Is this the blur you all are talking about? or just you notice excesive blur when rendering without -hd option?

Thanks,

Thanks,
Oscar, I cooked a new rendering last night without the -hd mode and I did not notice any extra blur that should not be there.

Thanks,
I refer to blur when rendering without -hd switch... all the new renders i make seem to have more blur then before.

I confirm.
Without -hd, it's not as sharp as it used to be.

Okay, so why am I noticing more blur with the -hd switch than without? That seems to be the opposite of what you guys are reporting. :?

Oh, I see. Never mind. I was comparing blur with and without -hd. Not blur between alpha/beta versions.

We are working hard in this issues and you'll see improvements soon

Yes... this blur issue definitely needs to be user definable. Let us have sharp images, and determine if and when we want to add blur.

Thanks,

There's no banding in the picture if you look at it in 24bit screen color depth. With 16bit the banding is of course visible.

most LCD displays can physically handle 16 bit even the graphics output is 32 bit to the screen... connect your vga output to a CRT monitor and see there's no banding on this :)
