Hi everyone,

Just as a quick intro, I'm not new to Maxwell. I've been using it for a few years now both in it's standalone studio form and through the SolidWorks plugin. However, I'm incredibly new to Modo and it's way of doing things. It's something we've been interested in at work for a while now and decided to trial 501 with the Maxwell plugin. Starting to get to grips with Modo itself on a basic level but the plugin is another story.

There's 2 issues I'm having and was wondering if anyone could help me out. I've looked through the manual and couldn't find any answers to these, so here goes:

1) How do you set the render resolution for the output render? I've setup the camera I need and have entered all the camera details (ISO, f-stop, etc), but I can't find resolution settings anywhere. I feel stupid for asking this but I can't find it for the life of me. :p

2) I also can't see where to select which channels (alpha, material ID, etc) you want to render. In the manual it mentions them under the Render options (where you select your directory), but I can't see them.

3) Is there a way to see the Maxwell material textures in the Modo viewport? I can see them through Fire and when I hit render, but not in realtime. Fire is generally ok but on bigger scenes I don't really want it on much of the time.

4) When I set my render output, it saves the mxs files where I chose them to go. The renders themselves however, don't seem to save there. Infact I can't find them at all. They seem to go the default Maxwell directory on the C drive, but when I go to that directory they haven't been saved.

I'm using Modo 501 SP3 with the Maxwell/Modo R2 plugin on a Windows 7 64-bit machine.

Any help with these two points would be brilliant. Thanks!

1, Go to the Shader tab in Modo and select render at the top - now under the properties tab below your render properties are displayed including res & pixel dimensions.

2, Again select render in under the shader tab - now in your maxwell properties box you have "render settings" "render output" & "channel/layers" listed down the side. Select channel/layers - here you can switch alpha etc on and off.

3, You can try switching Ray GL on in the viewport (little button top center) but the only decent way to see them is with fire.

4, See answer 2, you set the paths under the "render output" tab down the side.

...hope that helps.
