if you produce a ton of it, yes, you can resell it.
recently i sent the wrong files to production of a huge skeleton structure (armoring a sculpture with half a ton 10mm steel plates).
the error cost me 3000 bucks..outch. when i asked if they want it back as scrap metal, they said, the transport will cost more than the 50 bucks i'd get back
you get more for aluminum..but still
melting it down yourself would not be economic..as you have to clean it from the cooling fluid and melting it takes a ton of energy.
20 meters away from our atelier we have waste metal and waste mineral oil recycling containers - it goes there
a few kilos end up stuck in my bare feet
