just tell him there is an option in the boolean object "High Quality", he should disable it first and check the geometry. if he gets too many errors, he could try activating "High Quality" again. Sometimes it works better in normal mode, sometimes it needs the HQ mode..

Just a thought (I didn't try this at all):

Isn't it possible to use the wetmap as a mask for 2 types of glass? White being the normal glass and black AGS, that way the caustics that create a mess aren't calculated.

If you use a Mac try Cheetah 3D.
Under $100 and has never failed me on a boolean ever!

In fact I bought for this specific purpose only as I use them a lot
to cut away complex organic models. Also is able to export OBJs
as C header files..if you're into Open GL programming.

I don't think on this particular occasion there's any point in having a go at the Mac.

there is also modo, moi3d and the like that take an excellent job at booleans too, yet if you followed the discussion, the case is, complete realflow mesh sequences need to be booled.

I doubt that cheetah could do that, not even load a realflow mesh.bin
