i wish they'd cut xeon prices.. the sr-2 was just too tempting.
but anyway ..good news!
btw. Bubba.. if it helps.. i am still rendering with an qx6700... so the 980x from 4 years agoBubbaloo wrote:And the 990X is out. My 980X is obsolete!
We have a couple of qx6700 computers at the office that I include in the render farm. They are the slowest ones in the office.polynurb wrote:btw. Bubba.. if it helps.. i am still rendering with an qx6700... so the 980x from 4 years agoBubbaloo wrote:And the 990X is out. My 980X is obsolete!
maxwell is scaling nearly linear compared to the number of cores of the same cpu type. here are some benchwell scores:Steven Houtzager wrote:Hey Justin,
Was wondering how much time you trimmed off of your rendertime by investing in the renderfarm? Curious.

I haven't gotten around to doing it yet. once sandybridge came out, I started to look into that because they have been getting such good reviews...in some instances running close to the speed of the 980x if overclocked. I'm guessing with rendering that won't be the case since maxwell likes cores alot. My buddy just got a sandybridge system, so i'm going to have him do some testing for me and see where the best value is.Steven Houtzager wrote:Hey Justin,
