Any features you'd like to see implemented into Maxwell?

It would be cool to be able to have the final rendering, mxi file, to contain render layer information. Such that, there could be a toggle that would indicate which layers, or materials, would be rendered as a separate channel that could then be adjusted in Photoshop. Say my window glass. I have a rendering that I'd like to use neat image but only on the glass. If I could render the glass material on it's on render layer, it would make this easier to do. I have tried using the material id and object id channels but it does not really seam to work as well as render layers would work. I know this is available in Blender and it makes compositing so much easier. If there is away to this already please let me know.

Hi Brian,

Yeah the plug-in brings in all the render channels which is great. I do not think it brings in render layers. What I am doing is trying to compare this with a feature in blender. It is used for blenders internal node compositing. As my previous example. Lets say I have a building I am rendering in Maxwell. And I know I will want to do some special effect to the window glass by itself. What I'd like to see is that you could render the glass material in its own separate channel or, render layer. So that when you open the mxi in PS the glass would be on it's own layer in PS. This world be great for compositing and manipulation in PS. I have tried using object Id's and material Id's. But it is just not the same.

So, is this a known issue?

Thanks a lot for your response, I will update and […]

did you tried luxCore?
