Yes.

Entire landscape including craters and rocket ship all the way to the horizon done in Maya / Maxwell.

Then I did a quick paint-over of the render in ArtRage.

Then I created a wall / backdrop in Maya-Maxwell.

I camera-projection mapped the painted version of the render onto the wall (with a canvas texture normal map), and I allowed the original render to show through in front of the wall. I mismatched the lighting direction on purpose between painted world scenery and 'real' world foreground props. to emphasize the impression that the wall was an independent painting separate from the foreground. In my mind the foreground craters are made of painted clay, I guess.

The model's shadow onto the back wall comes from an invisible shadowcasting silhouette card of her. The same card gives a very slight skin colored reflection to the robot's metal shoulder.

Robot is all Maya / Maxwell, but I tried to model parts that looked like I might have bought them at a hardware supply shop. Eyes are sort of like plastic lamp domes. Arms are like flexible 'gooseneck' tube. Head is as if folded from sheet metal.

Truly curious here. Was the model doing something else as well when this was shot? Or did you really get a model, buy the gun and loincloth, and shoot the photo just for this fun project?

I traded her some more general photography she wanted (she does a stage show involving metal grinding and shooting sparks)

..for a concept I wanted to do. I had originally planned to do something with a Bride of Frankenstein / hip hop theme, if you can imagine such a thing (I started testing a Maxwell look collaboration with an LA graffiti artist here)

But I've been working on a series of images involving models and Maxwell backgrounds for a while now.
