It crashes on me if I go off and try to explore the program, but for just getting a quad mesh it works fine for me. I just followed the steps in the wiki tutorial and use the same steps on any model and it works pretty good. Its a very incomplete piece of software and all the settings are very vague. http://alice.loria.fr/WIKI/index.php/Graphite/PGP

I think if you hit apply between each step the dialog box just sits there. I just hit ok button between each step and it works fine. Programs that have ok and apply in the same window need help with their gui terminology.

The scan will come in as a heavy triangle mesh. Convering to quads is what you would need to do first. For that you would need to retopologize the mesh using something like z brush, 3d coat or graphite that we discussed earlier. From there you could run it through the n power convertor or rhino t splines plugin.

Programs like geomagic or rapidform can skip the quad conversion and build nurbs patches right over the triangle mesh. Those are spendy apps though.

Unfortunately there is no one button software that gives a perfect result without some work. Im sure in the future though this type of stuff will be more automated and less labor intensive.
