So like multilight but for materials... "multi-material"... is that what your after? (sounds sweet)
You could possibly do that and change colors, but would be hard when we talk about changing material roughness, things that changes the "light patterns" like caustics.... just guessing :)

One workaround today would be to render each material desaturated and use material id to change the colors in photoshop / nuke.
But the problem and solution I can see with reflections, is that you would need to render a separate image for each material and stack em up in layers in photoshop / nuke.

fry render already has done shader changes during/after and light changes too for probably a year now..in its engine(altough the shader changes is kinda like an addon thing you pay to get too.. but it looks just like multilight and w advantage of shader changes..Nextlimit shuld implement that asap to have a dominant engine choice.. but we'll see it it happens
