Well, I don't restart here, I just kill explorer.exe and restart it. But I am not recommending that you do that. If you registered the dll, and Windows told you it succeeded, then it is registered.

At that point, you would want to double check that the file is actually new -- if you look at the properties for maxwell.shell_x64.dll in Explorer, it should be versioned as 2.5.0.0. In other words, it is possible that the installer failed to overwrite your old one. Deleting the file, re-running the Maxwell installer, and rebooting would ensure that was not the case.

A properties check was showing it at the right version, but I followed your advice, (delete, reinstall, reboot) and now I'm back in business. You've saved my bacon once again JD.

My .mxm thumbnails have not been showing up since I installed v2 a long time a go. I tried to do what was suggested by JD. I got a message that says..

The module "Maxwell.Shell_x64 failed to load.
Make sure the binary is stored at the specific path or
debud it to check for problems with the binary or dependant .dll Files.

The specific module could not be found.

So I guess that is my problem. How do I fix this? I am on Vist home premium x64.

The Maxwell.Shell_x64.dll is in the directory though. I can see it.

Perhaps you should try to do a complete uninstall using Revo Uninstaller (free), then delete any leftover files, registry entries, settings. Install and run CCleaner (free) run it and clean out more crapfiles. Reboot and reinstall again. Be sure to backup your licensefile before all this.

Was that using the cmd method JD described? You might try the second route he mentioned (deleting that file, reinstalling 2.5 and reboot)

Try this at the dos prompt...

CD C:\Program Files\Next Limit\Maxwell 2

the CD comand is the comand that will change your directory.

Your path may be a bit different but you can cut and paste it from windows explorer.

type cd .. to go to the root directory (in that case you'll get to C:\WINDOWS) etc.
type cd 'dir name' to get to the specified dir (for example, when in C:\ typing cd maxwell 2\mxm will bring you to C:\Maxwell 2\mxm directory)

cd is the name of the command which sets the Current Directory. What you type after the cd is the path of the directory you want to make current. You can move up and down the path using standard .. relative path notation, and you can use cd\ to go directly to the root of the current drive. To switch, for example, to the D drive, type D: and hit enter. Once you are on the system drive (in your case C:), you can use cd to move to the Maxwell directory by typing cd Program Files\Next Limit\Maxwell 2.
