Mate it seems there is a real issue with SU and tight geometry. If I'm ever doing something detailed I make a component of the detail work and copy / scale it up then work on that one. Using intersect with model on fine stuff otherwise can turn to a bloody nightmare so I actually do this process quite often.

BTW mate using this workflow is a little safer than scaling up then back just in case you extend past the original bounding box. It's just then a case of deleting the scaled up copy!

Mate am I incorrect by saying that the other day before installing the 2...12 plugin I got thumbnails when browsing for MXM's? Could just be my bad memory!

I don't see how that would be possible. If you had MXM thumbnails in Explorer/Finder (i.e. in file dialogs, same thing) before installing 2.1.12, then you would have them after, because they are part of your Maxwell install, and not the SketchUp plugin.

The file browser which opens from the plugin, like most other file browsers, is provided by the operating system. As such, you should be able to choose between details/list/thumbnail/etc. views as you would with any other file browser, or as you would in Explorer/Finder.

Yes mate I knew that though the thumbs just show as an unassigned! Not even the MXM icon!

Weird, can you post a screenshot Richard? I've had 2112 installed for awhile and haven't seen anything like this either. And like JD says, I'm not even sure what mechanism the ruby would have to do such a thing. Very odd.

Hi JD,

The link for sketchUp 8 appears to be dead, would you mind re uploading it again?.

Thanks in advanced,

José

Hi José, you can download version 2.1.12 at the customer portal.

On the thumbnails thing, I think there is some confusion -- the SketchUp plugin has absolutely nothing to do with thumbnails being shown in Explorer/Finder, and by extension, nothing to do with them being shown in file dialogs. This is the case whether you are using the Default or Custom file browsers in plugin Options. The Custom file browsers option just uses different Windows/OSX APIs to create file browsers than does the SketchUp Ruby API. In all cases though, the file browser itself is actually provided by the OS.

Therefore, if you have MXM thumbnails in Explorer/Finder, you should be able to get them in the file browsers. On OSX, this would be related to whether or not you have installed the optional QuickLook plugin. On Windows, the thumbnails are provided by an Explorer plugin, which should be registered when you install Maxwell. So the only real question would be: do you have thumbnails in Windows Explorer?

Thanks Jeremy, I though this plugin was a preview and not yet released in the customer area.

Cheers,

JD - No mate! Nothing in Windows Explorer!

Actually I do think I may have worked out why now! I was thinking it may have been when updating the plugin as I uninstalled 2111 prior to installing 2112 though then after uninstalled MR 1.7.1 from my system as it is not really used now and which I'd bank would likely be the culprit. I'll do a reinstall of V2 which I'm sure will fix it!
