I am trying to come up with a brushed metal material but not sure how to go about it. I've looked at all of the brushed metal materials in the gallery, but honestly none of them actually work. They might work for far away shots, but for shots that are closeups, it is obvious that they are wrongly created.
I'm not sure sure whether I need to use bump map or anisotropy or both. Theoretically they bump should create the anisotropic look of the material, but I find that the bump mapping doesn't look correct when trying to use it for these micro facets...but if I only use anisotropy, it looks pretty flat.
I've been messing around all day and just can't find something that works for closeups...any advice or ideas from you guys??
