As the title says, how about adding lens presets to the Maxwell camera for the classic type lenses used for most DSLR's.



- and smaller..
- 50mm
- 100mm macro
- 28-80mm
- 70-200mm
- 100-400mm
- tilt-shift lens
- and beyond..

It would make Maxwell's camera more realistic and perhaps easier for new users and for existing photographers who wants to get started using Maxwell as they can
simply pick a lens for a certain type of rendering as they would do with traditional photography. User definable presets would also be nice to have.
These presets are also useful when you have a 3d model you wanna match into a backplate where not only the sensorsize but also the lens used matters. Sensorsize can we already use thanks to presets but not lenses.
If we could create our own camera presets or if you NL could add a few more to the list of existing cameras it would be nice.

It would make Maxwell take one step closer to it's advertising phrase "As easy as taking a photo"

Good idea but I'm uncertain of what you're after...is it limiting the focal and aperture range and auto blade amount in Maxwell based on lens chosen or is it to more accurately simulate effects you get depending on lens/sensorsize choise (like more vignetting when using full sensor) ?
When matching with a digital photo, most info is stored as Exif data (like focal length, aperture, iso) in the picture. The one thing that requires checking the lensmanufacturer sites might be amount of blades.
( the Exif data can be found with Adobe Bridge, most softwares that come with the cameras and when uploaded on for example www.flickr.com ...and possibly in win7..?)

Although, the preset idea for certain types of photographs would be great.
Maybe as sample scenes: car scene, consumer product, jewellery, interior and exterior architecture, portrait....
Wouldn't need to be complex or even textured, just a guide to see good placing of lightsources and good startsettings on focallength/aperture..
That would probably help non-photographers a lot. (including me who's only an amateur with a semipro camera )

It would absolutely be great to have this. A camera response curve would also be neat to have, what do you think about that?

Hm, I obviously still have a lot to learn about cameras...what is a "response curve" ?

EDIT: Never mind, googled it and found a wiki....not sure I understand it 100% but it sounds good for those of you who want extreme matching between background photo and render (?)
