So the other day an idea came to me, why no create hdri images with renders from maxwell, i just have to change the shutter and save them in order to stick them inside photoshop and get a hdri render. But my tests didnt worked, the hdri created looked awfull, why is that? is it really posible to do that correctly?

cheers

of course ...

after render stops You have to use SAVE IMAGE and save 1.hdr image (for example).
seriously - maxwell does high dynamic range images if You want it or not. Just chose what format You want to save . 8 16 or 32 bit

EXR is the best format to save to, it has the highest range of colors. But if you are trying to save to 32 bit for use as environment lighting, it doesn't quite work straight from Maxwell because the environment is spherically mapped which will distort your image unless it's converted correctly. You can create a reflective sphere in Maxwell and create it that way, but I've never tried it.

Vray has a function to override the camera mapping to generate a 360 Lat Long image, or a cubic image. Very handy, I'd love to have Maxwell that option.
