Glad to see you too here Greg. I'm sure you will find that Maxwell's render engine is superior to Modo's and if you include set up times and max quality it's actually faster.
You will also find out that unlike Luxology's forum, every technical question will be answered by the developers themselves.

All looks really great, but one question, if we can do everything with this interactive preview engine like with the default one , full resolution and save it to disk, what is the interest to continue to use the default engine, if the interactive one converges to the same unbiased physically based results, but faster ?

Nobody from NextLimit to answer to my question?

Just curious - will there be a full screen mode for interactive preview?
Would be nice to have that - for example when showing something to a client.

I've answered this question. ;)

The master render process has a consistent algorithm trying to process everything in a visual balance. It means, point C2 won't be reached before C1. Preview algorithm pushes points C1 and C2 closer to A and it can reach C2 before C1 and vice versa depending on algorithm/scene setup. Therefore, you can imagine something like a mid point controlled gradient where you hold and drag midpoint closer to starting point making them appear earlier than they would.

ok Tom I have well red your message, but it doesn't answer to my question...
If the preview engine can do everything that the default one do, but faster , and make even animation, and save renders on disk, what is the interest to continue to use the default one?

Geez Tom...That is a very nicely formed and artsy analogy...that leaves things perfectly opaque. :D

Maybe interactive preview is a milestone between current render engine and the next one.

There is no end point in unbiased method isn't it? (not insulting)
or perhaps maxwell suddenly stops when achieving SL=666 ?

Point B denotes Target SL and your lightsaber has started to blink these days. Out of battery? Summer?

It really does. Well, I will try to illustrate it for you I promise. Meanwhile, reading my answer more than a few times may help.

until this moment I thought unbiased render is going to infinity, and Target SL means WHEN YOU JUMP OFF a car that is going further to infinity(foggy point B)

so If I render a thousands .mxi to SL=2 and merge them to SL=18 and compare to one rendered DIRECTLY to SL=18

with old 1.7.1 renders would look almost the same (different seeed only)
with this new preview engin it will look very different (without caustic appear for instance)

that is how I understood Your roadmap explanation.

@Eric Lagman - those YTubes are cute ;)

I don't think I said the opposite, already. :P
