Right. Because this is not a new engine trying to imitate the main engine and I must admit it's the best part I like. You may additionally like the fact it's free, it's working on the fly or it doesn't require GPU and more... :)

One edit...the one restriction is that multilight is not supported in a traditional sense, but as you can adjust the scene in real time, there is no need for it.

Oh yeah, and it's going to be free.

thank god I was right, no gpu crap ;)

love it that Next Limit sticks to full compatibilty instead of fake/limited solutions.

so this is indeed a faster preview engine used ? or is there more magic to this ?

be it "just" a reworked rs0, I dont see a reason why this wouldnt make it into the renderer or even the plugins ,)

cheers

Thanks for the extra info about the new preview thingy :) as this thing is labeled as a 'preview engine' i assume it's only meant for quick lowres previews of what the scene will roughly look like and then the final rendering will be done with the standard engine. Correct ?
Or.. can you make final renderings with the previewthingy ?

Best,
Jason.
Hard to say, it was so busy early on that I waited and scheduled my own demo, so I did not really have a chance to see reaction.

Overall though the thing I liked the most is they are thinking of this as an enhancement to the workflow of working with the core engine, not another app or special module. Juan popped open a standard render that looked exactly the same and ran in 16 seconds. So if I had to guess it seemed like they found some way to speed up the core engine and are simply doing continual refinement / path tracing in the RT window. That last part is pure speculation though...

Hehe.. I like this one. It's like asking the opposite: "can you make preview renderings with the finalthingy?" :D Well, more info later...

Tom's post sounds inspiring. The wink and nod gesture at the end of the post is good enough for me :D

Even If large scenes cut the RT preview scene to a 1/3 of its speed its got to be quicker than an actual render (to preview)

Hmmm....I wonder about the possibilities when it comes to animations (once RT Preview is integrated into plugins!) :D
