Render Engine Wars -- that sounds like it would be a good reality TV show.

I guess I'm just tired of watching her contribute nothing useful and cause strife thread after thread -- excuse me, isn't that the definition of troll?

I want to use my copy of Maxwell to it's fullest potential -- that's why I'm here... that's why anybody should be here.

It's not why she's here -- why is she here again?

I did a google search -- this site describes trolls and she fits the profile of troll #3, The Missionary Troll:

This is a contest to see which can reproduce the material or the camera/perspective?
I would have said Arion's right behind Thea in quality of material/light... but the perspective is so wrong that it looks like it might be some sort of program bug and on a really basic thing in 3D -- which, if true, would definitely be a warning sign to "stay away"... pretty material or not.

Best,
Jason.
I can only assume by your comment that you haven't downloaded the .obj scene files.

As this is the most likely reason that you have made so little sense.

Actually I've done 30 or so test renders with various materials from those OBJ's... simple scene, good model, ultra-easy to set up and render... and free -- Why wouldn't I use it? :?

I simply pointed out that every other package got the perspective right -- Arion's version did not... I also said that could be user error but if not it could be cause for pause. 3D is ALL about perspective, otherwise it would be called something else.

I like Maxwell, no surprise there, I wouldn't have put out close to $1000 if I didn't think it was the best renderer on the market... and I'm on a Maxwell forum. My motives and ideals are completely transparent(not even frosted :D ).

Not much to be misunderstood or confused about there.

Best,
Jason.

Half Life wrote:Frances, it is absolutely obvious that you are a troll -- and a pretty poor one at that.

You like to come here stir shit, make insinuations and whatnot -- and when you have an opportunity to "put-up or shut-up" you first dance around the subject. Then make excuses. Then try to distract attention from yourself and the crappy job your pet program did by twisting it around so you can focus on how wrong others are.

You like Fry, great for you -- I don't care... and I'm pretty sure nobody else here does either.

You failed troll... go away.
Well, you blindsided me with that one. There have been some controversial times on this forum in the past (long before you ever showed up), but nothing as ugly as what you've posted was ever said.

You guys won the frosted glass dragon challenge. Couldn't you have just been happy with that?

I simply stated the facts of your recent history on this forum -- if they are ugly that is not my fault.

I've hoped you would come back to being the helpful poster I remember -- but alas that doesn't appear to be in the cards.

Yes, well unfortunately, I engaged in a controversial discussion here. One that I should have avoided.

Remember from when? The good ole days of 2009? If you ever thought I was a helpful poster, you wouldn't have called me a troll.

I meant you just decided to make the post with that version for some reason and now I know it's because there is no difference like you say so everybody should let it be. No pun.

Copied and pasted from the link above:

[Note added after publication: I neglected to consider the part-time troll, or more accurately the troll who does try to "pay his dues" by contributing articles and honest discussion in areas in which his "missionary position" happens to coincide with the purpose of this forum. Examples would include "dues paying" by Reginald Firehammer back when he was on SOLO, and by Robert Davison recently. I find it reasonable to ignore the troll when he is trolling, and to interact with him when he is in his reasonable, "dues-paying" mode.]

I guess the smart thing to do here is to simply ignore you when you are shilling for Fry and engage you only when you have a common goal with Maxwell users?

You must get something from coming here, but it is obvious you have no interest in Maxwell as a user. The only logical conclusion is you have succeeded (or hope to) in converting some to your "missionary position"?

By the way you can search the full history of the forum and read many years back -- I've read all the way from the beginning... you don't have to be present to read history.

No worries. ;) Btw, you should not feel bad about the reactions here. You know, we have a great userbase and challenges are always emotional/sensitive when it comes to the comparisons. The tension was probably more fragile this time as it's based on quality, not the speed. From where you stand it sounds normal but here on this forum, these people are the target of everyday discussions and lots of real trolls are comparing everything else to Maxwell, not only fryrender. I think you're now having the side effects of this situation. I know "Frances" for a long time and I've been in similar or worse situations some years ago, you know... I just don't want to think you, me, bubbaloo or half life; simply none of us are seriously after a personal goal. Sometimes it happens, I just don't like any of you feel bad about it. Everybody should think for a second what he/she has said and confess himself/herself how could this lead the conversation to this point and finally, take a deep breath. Rub the pain and go on.

You are probably right about me  -- but at least I'm currently trying to help people on this forum get the most out of their purchase as often as I can... maybe thats not enough to redeem me in your sight but I'm hopeful somebody someday out there might forgive me.

Bah, pointless to try to reason -- I'm going to choose to ignore you... on the foes list you go.

But afterall, there's a classic phrase I want to make >> Frances was previously a Maxwell user but I was not a Fry one and that brings all the fun.
