I find the results very interesting so far. Of course there are no conclusions posted, that's up to each individual. Some may like the Fried render. :P
I sense the relief in your jabs. But bugs can be fixed. Attitudes, not so much.

Haha, I don't have an attitude. I am only interested in results. The jabs are in fun only. Don't take me too seriously. Of course I am pretty loyal to Maxwell, so I like to take jabs at the competition, mainly Fry, but if an engine can perform well, I have no problem with it.

It is discouraged on our forum, especially for the beta testers. Maybe we should loosen up a bit and realize that goodwill doesn't count for as much as we thought it did. On second thought, no. We get a better view from the high road. ;)

false ,on your forum , fry users (maybe not you but the others) always claim that fry is better than maxwell, speeder and cleaner as soon as they have an opportunity to compare the 2 engines.

so why maxwell users couldn't say the same, especially if it's true ;-)
it's too easy to accept the competition just when it comes than an advandtage for you and throw back it when you can't fight.

For your dragon render , I respect it but, you used the 1.5.01 version that is not release yet, so , it's not fair play too. ;-)
Please post a render with the current version.

I am sure Maxwell developpers can post too some amazing renders with some prototype engine they are working on...

Well, let's not turn this challenge into a Maxwell vs Fry battle. I'm rather happy to see different engines and contributions. Frances made her best with fryrender and it's very welcome. She also added it's a current bug and it will be fixed. That's fine.

yes but the fry submission is made with a version not released yet, to be valid , this one would must be done with the current fryrender version , isn't it?

Yes, ideally it's better but it seems like this is how she wanted it to be. Besides, it's not looking good with new version either.

I must respectfully say that we discourage all animosity, no matter the engine. We do refrain from censoring others however.

Hi Alex,

Unfortunately, dielectrics haven't changed between 1.5 and 1.5.01. All I did was try to duplicate tom's Maxwell material in fryrender. The .01 mainly adds additional support for the .rcs scene file format.

No tom, it is not how I wanted it to be. I explained that it was incorrect in my post. If it was how I wanted it to be, it would be better than yours.

Sorry, I think you misunderstood me. I refer to the action of posting that image, not the image itself. :)

tom, I still don't understand what you mean.

[ETA] I understand what you meant now. I didn't see your prior post about my submission. It was not my intention to render with a prototype build - that's just the one I had on my computer, and I knew that there was no difference between it and the public version, as I explained below. In fact, using a "tweener" build made it more annoying to tweak the glass material because the material editor testroom scenes aren't in sync with it. I could change material parameters, but the preview function wasn't usable.

[ETA] I can load the fryrender release version and re-render, but it will be the same result. Nothing has changed with the engine. Here is the fry material:

This is a contest to see which can reproduce the material or the camera/perspective?
I would have said Arion's right behind Thea in quality of material/light... but the perspective is so wrong that it looks like it might be some sort of program bug and on a really basic thing in 3D -- which, if true, would definitely be a warning sign to "stay away"... pretty material or not.

Best,
Jason.

Frances, it is absolutely obvious that you are a troll -- and a pretty poor one at that.

You like to come here stir shit, make insinuations and whatnot -- and when you have an opportunity to "put-up or shut-up" you first dance around the subject. Then make excuses. Then try to distract attention from yourself and the crappy job your pet program did by twisting it around so you can focus on how wrong others are.

You like Fry, great for you -- I don't care... and I'm pretty sure nobody else here does either.

You failed troll... go away.

hey, please everybody calm down a bit here !

and Half Life, i don´t have the impression that Frances is the Troll here...
she has been attacked quite some time personally here in this thread, what i did not find very nice, to say politely.

the topic of the challenge is interesting, but as always, these render engine wars are terrible to watch and too often get personal.
