Hi TB,

I am wondering about the setup of this material. The weight map in the BSDF would be used to blend between another BSDF in the same layer, so I'm afraid this one is doing nothing. If you want it to control the weight, you should put it in the layer weight slot. (You can still reduce the layer weight amount to 80 even if there is a map in the slot.)

Hi Brian,

Using a single BSDF with a weight map still effects the BSDF as it works in conjunction with the inverted map used in the roughness slot of the same BSDF - no inverted map in the roughness slot will make the weight map do nothing (yes then there is no point having the weight map in the BSDF and I'll have to revert to using the layer weight slot as you mentioned):

Removing the BSDF weight map and leaving the roughtness:

Interesting. It's so early here, I'll have to think more about this later when my brain wakes up!

To be clear:
As a rule, a single BSDF disregards its Weight Map or value and changing the Layer Opacity shouldn't affect this but, currently decreasing the Layer Opacity reveals the BSDF Weight Map which is not something expected from the material system. So, it's on our list by now. Thank you for reporting!
