@Tok_Tok - What do you currently model with? Solidworks is fun to work with it can get tricky when working with surfaces but once you get the hang of it there is no turning back! Nico has done some great projects using Solidworks! Most of my work is modeled using soliworks! or packages with a similar feel like Pro Engineer, Autodesk Inventor etc! (Solidworks comes out on top for me) but at some point id like to try modo401

Well since its next year you'll be attending Design Academy Eindhoven Id suggest you google Solidworks SDK (Student Design Kit) as sometimes you can get a few months trial to use. You'll be ahead of the game then! :D :wink:
Well i'm currently all over 3Ds Max. Great program(!) but, and this is typically autodesk, you need plugins if you really want quality. So also the NURBS are not very good. I think i'll learn using
them when i start at the Design Academy.

Yes i remember Nico did Wall-e using Solidworks, and i saw his Fiat, great work!

I had modo installed, but never took the efford to start, i still got that feeling it such amazing software! ;)

Thank you for the input :!:

@David
Must be great to be able to choose between the best way of modeling. Some things are almost impossible to model with Poly's, and the other way around.

This is another update, i changed some maps with the ones from David's pack and used his Rim material, i think the base rubber is still to light:

Your update has an element of realism to it! The lightness of the rubber id say looks good too! its more the rubber look that needs tweaking as it gives the appearance of a greasy plastic. Try playing with the R2 settings! :wink:

This explains the R2 settings if you don't already know

for now, I would just check the normal map, so the goodyear logo etc is readable ;)

else is fine.

I am not sure for the normal map. Juste make a rotation of the projection :roll:
Tok_Tok: Very well done. I am excited to see further now.

well I think for the effect a normal map will be perfect, and render much faster than displacement. Your call ;)

cheers
