Nico: Thanks :) i'm still learning this camera so most of my shots now will be pretty crappy.

Tom: Hehe, blame that faceting on IKEA. It's their cheapest lamp :) (about 1 euro) i guess the faceting is the reason why they sold it so cheap to me..

Cary: Thanks! :) yea i'm also looking forward to see what i can do with this equipment. It's scary how fun it is to fire off 8 frames per second and slightly fewer fps with 18mpix rawfiles in a burst.

I had to go out today and play with my new thingy in the sunshine. :D here's the result i got which was kinda postworthy, the rest of my 67 shots sucked.

Adrian: Hehe thanks :) lucky catch i guess you could call it because i never noticed the foot when i shot the bird.
Sweet, the 550D is a great camera. Congratulations! :) i looked at that one at first but then i went for it's big mama instead although they both share about the same specs.
Do post more photos and HD videos with your nice new camera, i'd love to see it in action. Your cat and key photos look great! what type of glass have you got when you get such nice quality ?

I'm a total beginner when it comes to videos, so i don't expect anything worthy for a while. You really need to use a tripod or steadycam with these CMOS sensors. I tried to stabilize handheld footage in post and it retains this subtle wobble that's very distracting. The cat was shot with my 50mm f/1.4, my only really good lens, so i use it a lot. The first is with my ultrawide Samyang 8mm, that might make for trippy videos!

It doesn't matter if you're a newbie at shooting videos or if it shakes a bit. The shakes makes it feel more natural and not so superperfectly smooth and pro. Make the best with what you got and enjoy it. :) i'm gonna do that too and i have no tripod or any other special gear except for my hands to keep it steady with.
Oh you have a 1.4 lens  that's a fine piece of glass. I'd like to have that too someday..
