an option to render only selected object(s). overriding all other objects as matte...... would be great in studio. even better through max plugin. (if there's an option to do this, someone please enlighten me?)

Is it nog an option to select the objects you want to render, then right click and select "Hide unselected". Now press render

In max you can do it. At the same place where you select region render, crop, blowup,... select "Selected" and that's it.

No "matte" thingy, just renders as they were not there.
