This is a one touch solution for creating lovely unbiased renders for Revit. We've seen how people are currently required to buy 3DS Max and also rendering software like V-Ray or Mentalray, our Indigo for Revit plugin works directly from within Revit. We've made something that is easy enough to put on every desk in your office and powerful enough for your visualization specialists.

Using Indigo with Revit
1.Open your project
2.Create a 3d camera view
3.Hit 'render with indigo'

OK, your turn now NL!!!

From the main page, you can see the Revit logo, click and you go to Revit Plugin page... Look at the right of the page... Still in closed beta, it will be available for download later this week...

JTB did you try the pulgin already? I was playing around but I found very little material options. Let me know if you got something tested.
thanks

It is not easy for me to test things now... However, I would like to test the new Indigo 2.4 open beta - 20% faster

Just read this from AUGI forums (Revit)

Here is the message that has just been posted:
***************
Went to a presentation last night - looks very useful: Features shown:
Two buttons within Revit:
1. One Button Indigo Render! Automatically maps Revit materials to close approximation of Indigo materials - they showed it and it was an extremely close match
2.Material tweaks - brings up material dialogue (almost matches the look and feel of the Revit one) with all the Revit materials - you can then tweak/remap materials to Indigo ones - their selection etc a lot more vast then the Revit one

Very easy to use

Other features:
1. Renderfarm within Revit!
2. They promised that IES files will map through (I dont think its in the beta yet)
3. They had a trick with muliple instances of families where Indigo spends 80% of the time working out characteristics of the family, and the rest actually rendering it - so , say, if you have a converence room with 200 seats indigo works out they are all the same family (even if different materials) so doesnt need to calculate all of them seperately (if that makes sense)
4.Because Indigo works out the charactoristics of families and retains that knowledge - if one of your lights isnt bright enough in your shot - you can just turn it up without having to re-render!!!

They showed a courtyard with curtain glazed buildings around it (looking up) and what an Indigo render looks like completely within Revit with NO tweaking of materials - just hitting the Indigo render button - amazingly good result....

Obviously Im impressed - I think they still have a bit of work to do to make it seamless, but what a start.

(Excuse my lack of technical jargon/ knowledge etc)

Sounds promising. I asked to the developers if the plug-in will work revit 2011 but I did not get an answer yet.
How about Maxwell? NL are you interested in develop a plug-in for Revit? or we need to look some place else?

Don't get too excited with plugins for Revit...You will need to use and model much more for a nice scene...

This is what I wrote for this, in AUGI forums...

Great news but I think that a great render needs a great model and there are several problems using Revit with such renderers...
Possibly the plugin will be just an exporter... After that you will have to do much more work...
For example, Indigo doesn't support RPCs... So trees, cars, people will be added later... But I don't think Indigo's main application is the appropriate way to finish your scene because you will have to do this from the beginning every time.
Revit lacks import options so there is no way to add 3d content to your Revit scene, at least the usual ones like 3ds and obj. No nice evermotion furniture or onyxtree models...
Now that Revit has great communication with MAX through linking FBX files the fact that you don't need MAX sounds less interesting... and believe me that's not 100% true...You need Max or another modeler to create interesting scenes...

Do you imagine using MXST and Revit without any other modeler?
