Hi,

Modo 4.01, 64 bit, Windows 7 Professional x64, Maxwell plugin 1.10:

Go to the Render tab, Maxwell materials load on the left. Either try to assign a material by dragging/dropping and Modo immediately crashes hard, or browse around for materials for a bit, and eventually it will crash also.

I have installed the maxwell plugin into its own directory inside the documents tree (for r/w access) but the problem prevails.

Any ideas?

Cheers

Hi Balt,

This is not because of your plug-in location:)

Do you do the drag and drop onto a scene mesh object or onto the shader tree? Here the drag and drop onto mesh works fine, but the second option really does the crash as you have described. (Thanks for the info - We will check the code.)

The other scenario, the crash with simple material browsing: Could you narrow it a bit? Does it happen in every material folder? Does it happen only with Maxwell materials or also inside the standard modo preset folders? What happens if you double click on a maxwell material? etc....

Thanks!

Hi Marton,

It happens either way, whether dropping on a mesh or onto the mesh item in the object tree: Dropping for the first mesh item (make sure the item selector is on) doesn't crash, it always happens after the second one though. The first material assignment doesn't seem to do anything. When dropping, a message box comes up asking "Do you want the material item to be renamed according to the material conversion mode?", select Yes or No, either way no change in material is apparent on the item.

When double clicking on a material, it opens in the maxwell material editor. The same happens when I drag/drop the material into the shader tree.

The materials I've tried to use are in my document home where I have r/w access, as well as from the default maxwell material library.

Maybe I'm expecting something to happen that doesn't happen in Modo?

Thanks!
