WIP :?:

..nice one! it looks very real..

if i should say something else about it.. i think you have a problem with bump on the curved ceiling; you could subdivide it very high.. or try displacement.

i think the window frame, the handrail, and the part of the balcony where the rail is mounted are too dark.. or too similar in color.. at least on my old laptop screen i am writing this from.

also i would love to see a version with some scattering and diffraction to reveal the brightness of the outside light even better...

anyway great render!

Very nice start! The light is looking good.

Tip: When very dense bump or displacement is used on a curved surface, it can show the facets of the geometry. Increase the geometry resolution or decrease the bump / displacement strength.

Thx much. What makes you think that there might be a problem w/the bump on the ceiling. If you're looking at the darker stripes, I think that is a reflection from the balcony. Let me know what you're seeing so I can look for it

I agree about the dark windows, handrail, etc. I'll lighten that up in the next round. I still have to add some more furniture too.

I just played around a bit with the diffraction and scattering settings. A very low scattering setting really helps with making the lights more real, but enabling diffraction does not seem to do anything under this condition. I've never used it. ahhh...it looks like I need to load an aperture map  I'm just now getting a handle on some of the basics.

Thx Brian. Can you point to what you're seeing in the ceiling? No problem increasing the mesh density. Joe
gazdooks wrote:Holy cow Josephus that looks good. Is this a interior of the estate you were doing earlier?
Yes, so far been working on it over a year, and more renders to come. Client loves them, which is a good thing since I don't have any other work right now :D Joe

I think a temperature balance would help it out a little..... you might also try staging some dummy lights around the chandelier to give the glass reflections a little more pop..... just my two pesos.

Well, your 2 pesos mean quite a bit to me, but the warm tones show the ambiance I'm after.

Thx Richard (what you're seeing on the ceiling are the shadows and/or reflections from the iron railing.)
kami wrote:maybe let a bit morer light in from the outside? it's a sunny day and looks like you need a lot of artificial light to get a bright room ...
Always seems to me that Maxwell is not letting in enough of the outside light, but the interior wall surface are all quite dark, and there is a large opening in the wall where the camera is so the incoming light has not much surface to reflect back into the room.

Stil some furniture and a few things to put in, but wanted to post this in response to the comments.

Me too :( Thanks! What happened is that I raised the camera a little and forgot to move the y axis offset accordingly...did not see it until it was done  I let it render all weekend (60 hrs)...I may run it again. If I do, I'll see if I can fix the wood grain on the right side of the niche area too. Might adjust the material on the columns in the corners too...they really are not reading like stone to me. Joe

BTW...others have mentioned the cropping also, so will go ahead and re-run it this weekend.

@Gadzooks: thx much for the comment...that's what I was aiming for.
@Bubbaloo: I re-rendered to fix the bottom crop, also added a background exterior image, fixed the wood paneling in the back, and changed the color of the upper railing. Also warmed up the lighting just a tad. Hope you like it. Joe

So, is this a known issue?
