Hello there,

This is probably a noob question, but I could not find
any similar question within the forum.

I don't know if I am doing something wrong.

How can I import an OBJ file with full textures
into Studio? I only get the model with no textures at all.
It must be Studio, because I have exported from Zbrush,
Sketchup, Vue, etc and I can't bring the file with textures
to be rendered with the MX render engine.

The object has imported with all the zones identified, but
I already did all the work texturing it before. Do I have to do all the
work again?

All help will be appreciated...

If you export from Zbrush or Sketchup you can dowload a special plugin for your application and get all the nice stuffs as textures.
If you export as Obj you have to reassign textures and materials.

Thanks Ricky. But redoing all the texture assigning must be a
hell of a job within Studio, specially with organic forms.
It is ok with architecture, but with characters, it must be
a difficult task. Not impossible of course.
Also I did not know Zbrush had a plugin for Maxwell. I'll check it out.

Thanks for the tip Bubbaloo. I never thought about FBX.
I will try it out and let you know how things turned out...

Thanks for the help guys.

There is no Maxwell plugin for Zbrush hehe.. it would be silly if there were one :)
I doubt that FBX or OBJ can import objects with textures correctly mapped into Studio, you will probably have
to do a lot of manual remapping within Studio. If your models have proper UV's then it should be fairly easy to
get the job done.
Do you have to use Studio ? don't you have another application like Cinema4D or Maya or something like that you can use ?

Maxwell Studio badly needs support for Collada, it would make life easier for many of us.

Thanks for the info Maximus3D. Yeah. I went and searched for a
Zbrush plugin, but there wasn't one. I knew there wasn't one, but
NextLimit could have released one in the meantime.

Unfortunately, I don't have any of the other software titles
that have plugins for maxwell besides sketchup. And like everyone knows
sketchup sucks at dealing with too many polygons.

Yes, collada would solve many problems.

Oh well, back to the drawing board.

Thanks for the tip anyway...
