Please post here anything else (not relating to Maxwell technical matters)

all about subject as usuall BBloo ;)

There is a joke about that (sorry for my lame translation):

-Hi Jack I heard You got slap in face in forest.
-Forest ? don't be silly it is a few trees only.

Comparing to render today - this is not only realtime ;) it's more like precognition time :D

of course this is not realtime in gamedevelopement context

but If one compare mentioned GPU render in relation to today render progress and setup scene REALTIME it is.

It is all about what we are compare to this

BTW this navigation in viewport(renderframe) in ocean of noise make me sick a little. It must be managed in different way.

as beta buyer (not tester) you own fryrender RT which includes the functions to prepare a scene for arion - so you'll get it too

Well, I'm waiting for their forum to be online to see if Numerobis is right.
For sure I will not be satisfied if they give us just the player!!!

The forum has been back up for a while...they have changed the address.

... seems like 3D movies, "real time" rendering engines boom now in crysis times - interesting ...

one thing i noticed on octane preview video - there was scene with hdr image in the background - first, there should be white maps on overexposured image (not grey) and if you add vignetting, there should be less exposured corners (some details and colour should appear, not just grey falloff toward corners). So, is it "physically correct" and "unbiased" ? Are those new engines trying to simulate reality, or simulate other unbiased render engines? However results are really nice on first view :) . Time will tell. To make it paralel with foto/video - people are still taking pictures even if they have filming possibilities... video killed the radio star? :)

That's not the point; the point's actually HOW LOOOONG it will take you to shoot the picture

Interesting developement...

One thing that really had me chuckle:
In the video he demonstrates all these "RT" sliders and you see them update very fast and its all pretty cool.
Towards the end the guy says something like: here you can crank up the samples to get even More ubiased rendering...

To stay in the vein of good old maxwell unbiased snobism ( :D ): How can something be more or less unbiased?
Isn't it this way: either ur engine is 100% unbiased or not?

I understand that you can regulate the quality by calculating more or less samples per bucket or whatever.
To me this would mean: if you crank this all the way up its 100% unbiased, otherwise its like a cheap version of it?

just a little thing I found rather funny
still very interesting to see the developement in this field!
