Hi
The first "professional"(?) test of my life
I haven't experience in this... and simply I render a scene of jewelry with many stones made in Rhino 4.0 with maxwell 1.7 and the same scene open In Rhino 5.0 (64). Sure the scene isn't the best for rationality, it's heavy (34mb) ,I don't know how simplify hundreds of stones (instance, blocks?,...), I try to have the same parameters in both but it isn't posible to have the "exact same" parameters in both plugins, etc...
but
I ' m disappoint to see for 800x600 - 12SL ( 11.99 in MW2 ) to have 37min for MW and 40min for MW2 :( !
Where I mistake me?

Other questions:
Apparently the same materials , lights,...work in Rhino 5.0 but
-sure the pearl is now bad(?)
-the stones are more gray(?)

It's posible to compare the quality of these two SL 12 or no?

First of all, you shouldn't compare SLs but noise level. MW2 is cleaner than MW1 at lower sample levels.

Also from my experience: working in a MW2 scene in which I included an old glass vase filled with water made in MW1.7 I've experienced massive amount of noise at the vase an surroundings; after replacing the vase materials with glass and water from the wizard the noise cleaned superfast.

Hola Fernando,
I never understand exactly what is noise!! There is an objective test to determine that in the image I post with the logo
(Trial version of MW2) vs the image "withouth logo"(MW1) is better , with less noise? Both 12 SL, 800x600,...
I have try to change all materials with wizard ...ior diamants and gold, any diffuse and emitter material, but I haven' substancially improvements of time.
Only the change to the gold ior ( 24 k?) with wizard I think improvement in this sense a little, but is fisically en aestetically unaccettable ....very "yellow" respect to the 18 k gold or white gold (Tom's ior alloys are good!!?) that are alloys and "no very yellow"!!!
I don't want to renounce at the ior quality in my render of jewellry :?

with this image (40.30min) vs the first posted( 40, 30 min in MW1.7) is posible To valorate the noise (grano)?
There is a scientific test or is an "impression" of the eye?

...but..uhmmm.. my first idea of determine the improvements of speed it isn't intuitive now :?

I think there are many person in this forum that after a month with MW2 can say ....
" more or less"
....the speed's improvement for me is
A render that need ... time 100 in MW1.7
...with MW2 need ... time 50-60? ....70-80?....

Thankyou
rober

I didn't see this and others forums like now...I understand it is imposible
to say a percentage of speed's improvement (many factors)...but... if I MUST obligatory to answer ..
I should contest ...more or less...in general :

if mw1.7 time = 100

in mw2 = 94  a little poor! (with improvements in the next future, new upgrades , new v2 materials,...)
= 70 if only use hdr illumination
.........
Is this totally mad or no :) ?

...then the impresion is that the "traditional quality" of Maxweel is improved a little from MW1.7 to Mw2.0
