Any features you'd like to see implemented into Maxwell?

I'm curious what others think of the Studio's UI in v2. And maybe some input from the NL team as to why they decided to go the route they did.

I think there are some interesting ideas incorporated but I find the UI very challenging to deal with. I'd really like to see the ability to choose from a fair range of UI settings.

The colors seem really dark to me. Most everything seems to be in the RGB 25,25,25 to 50,50,50 range. There is almost no contrast at all in the scroll bar making it very difficult to see where it's at (the scroll bar itself it 25,25,25 and the background of the scroll bar is 38,38,38 and the menu background is 45,45,45). I work in an office with overhead lights which compound the problem of a lack of contrast.

It's also bothersome that an undocked menu seems to have no border to it at all indicating where I should grab it and move it around.

And the Save icon - it's a CD rather than the traditional floppy disk, I get it. But it's not very intuitive since I've never seen it in any other programs before.

I think I like the tabs. It's a very clever idea. There a bit tricky to get the hang of though. I find myself always looking for a menu that's hidden behind a tab. Maybe an improvement, though, would again be more contrast. Since there are no title bars the names of the menus blend in with all the other text. Perhaps the titles of the menus as well as the tabs could stand out more?

Many people don't even use the studio, I know, but as a SketchUp user I work quite a bit in Studio to add my high poly trees and cars rather than trying to do it in SU. Sorry if I obsess :)

Brodie, Maxwell's UI is fully customizable. Please feel free to make adjustments for your comfort.

In order to customize the UI colors:
- Navigate to Edit / Preferences / General / Appearence / Colors and set your own scheme

In order to customize the icons:
- Navigate to ...Next Limit\Maxwell 2\images and make an changes you like

That solved a great many of my UI issues. I do still wish that I could have a separate color for the menu titles (camera, materials, color picker, etc.), the tabs, and a title bar but this goes a long way.

I like the new interface though had the same issues originally!

One thing I do find is that I have a major problem occuring as I generally scroll wheel in windows and with studio now it is so easy to be over a setting and make an adjustment without realising!

I'm still gagging for numerical limits or sliders on all environmental settings and the globe function to be recalled back to the previous functionality.

The inclusion of the tab feature was a good move I think!!

the new UI is moving in the right direction. It seems a bit sluggish on my Mac at times, but the colors work for me. :)

Oh, I think my only big issue with it is how it doesn't remember some adjustments, like when I change the order or size of columns in lets sat the objects window.

the materials browser would be nice if it let you use a slider to change the size of the preview icons. (I hide the file navigation side, hard to use as it is, maybe look at better ways to do this part) maybe it needs a refresh button because I've had it not show new materials I've added.

Oh, and I would have more problem if you wanted to mess with the standard Mac title bars on windows and make your own that match the color themes. Probably not a simple task though...

So, is this a known issue?

Thanks a lot for your response, I will update and […]

did you tried luxCore?
