I played around with sss tonight and noticed Maxwell keeps crashing with this type of sss settings everytime. It refuses to render it.
I'm starting the rendering from Studio using the standard simball scene and then the renderwindow opens, the scene is prepared and once it's ready to render then the Maxwell renderwindow simply shutsdown without any notification of why.

Here's what the testmaterial looks like that causes these constant crashes

And here's the mxm file

I heard someone mention a specific interval of ND-values make it crasch.. don't remember which ones though, or if Next limit has confirmed it.

Try changing the ND-value up to let's say 1.5 without changing anything else and see how that goes.

That's interesting Bjorn, thanks for the info. I been playing around with the attenuation value and it seems the crashes start if the value goes beyond 9 milimeters, anything higher than that is impossible to render. I also tested setting the valus to centimeter but the same types of crashes occur.
Changing the ND value affects nothing.
If Asymmetry is set to zero then Maxwell renders without crashing, if asymmetry is set to anything either below or above zero Maxwell crashes.

I mean rough 90 didn't crash here. Do you say "No, even rough 90 crashes."? Could you please share a crashing MXM having rough 90?

Ok Tom. I have now tested roughness at 80 and it crashes if the attenuation value is too high and if the asymmetry value is above or below zero.
Roughness set at 90 or above causes crashes regardless of what the attenuation and asymmetry values are set to.
To test this i'm using the same mxm as i posted earlier, just playing around with the values in that file gives me these crashes.
