Hi, I think 3dsmax plugin 2.0 looks very nice.

but I have some small wishlist for 3dsMax plugin 2.0

1. Shift Lens viewport support ( Mihnea says almost impossible, but I hope to see at someday.

2. Camera sensor presets ( Mihnea says it'll be updated in next build, good!)

3. easy preview object selector ( Mihnea says he will find a better solution )

4. bitmap viewer (like max default 'view image' button )

5. when change Standard material to Maxwell material, [replace material ] popup remove. I think it's useless.

6. In max preference, material preview default render time is 30sec and it's shortest setting, so I cannot lower to 10sec.

7. copy/paste bitmap between standard material and maxwell material. When using 1.71 plugins, I could drag n drop or copy/paste the bitmap on the standard diffuse slot to maxwell reflectance slot. but in 2.0 plugins, I cannot doing it.

7-1. bitmap drag & drop from explorer. It's a related wishlist with 7.

If I found some other, I'll post later.

thanks.

About #5, the pop-up is indeed useless, but we haven't found a way to stop it from showing up (yet). Max thinks the Maxwell material is a multi-material so it asks that question. We'll keep looking for a way to suppress it, but it might not be possible.

Bogdan, if you saying that about cropped image, it's not my wishlist in here. I've already said that.

My wishlist #4 is that

Image

I want to see this full size texture viewer within maxwell material.

I understand, but that dialog is usefull for cropping images only, that's its purpose. For viewing purposes, the button that holds the path to the image file, has a right click menu that can open the image file with your default image viewer. Is this what you're looking for? Or you simply want to be able to see the image inside a max window without tweaking any parameters?

Yes you're right. that dialog is an example of viewer and it's useful to doing that.

Actually, in max, we can see the tweaked bitmap at the material editor preview window.

but Maxwell material plugin editor has not the same function. we can only see the tweaked bitmap on the applied object.

MXED has already great full size texture viewer.

So I want the image viewer if it possible.

Maybe a preview of the bitmap that changes in realtime when tweaking brightness, saturation, etc.? like in studio...
also, How about the possibility to drag and drop from the windows explorer to the map slot?

You can already do that and see the results directly into the viewport, that is, the place where the picture is intended to end up.
How about the possibility to drag and drop from the windows explorer to the map slot?
Not sure if we can do that, since 3dsmax handles the drop event by itself. The menu you see when you drop or right click on a 3dsmax map button (copy/swap/clear) is done automatically by 3dsmax. But, we'll see what can be done.

sandy, mind if i jump in on the max wishlist?

1. viewport map display support for Maxwell (Ref) materials

2. and or direct mxed launch from within max that talks directly back to max material slot like it used to(reading the image map tweaks from mxed of course). in other words, being able to launch mxed from within the max material editor, then save back to max material slot on close. seems only mxed library is available to launch? or is there something i'm not seeing in the display?

i'm all about the new maxwell 3d max material interface without having to pan up and down constantly through the list! but the points above seem to be a break in workflow (for me at least) thanks!

Sure, rusteberg, let's wish our list. :)

I added one another.

Sometimes I change the mentalray scene to maxwell scene. In case, So I do copy/paste bitmap from standard(arch&design) material to maxwell material.
Now with maxwell plugin 2.0, we can just copy/paste within maxwell materials.

I think it's due to maxwell 2.0 use maxwellbitmap shader instead of bitmap shader. And it's related to my wish no.4

Is that possible?

I'm was surprise when I went to copy a bitmap from Arch & Design shader and it didn't work.
That makes converting Mental Ray to Maxwell scenes extremely slow.
I haven't used Maxwell in a long time but was looking forward to trying out the speed of Maxwell V2.
The thought of having to navigate to each directory to access a bitmap is going to drive me crazy and take days off my life :)

Is there any material converters out there for Maxwell V2 ?
