Plasse do not see at this message as an atack.
This is not a message against Maxwell nor Next Limit.
This is a message that tries to explain some problems in Maxwell, that Next limit seem to be UNAWARE of.
I have tried to explain these things unsuccesfully for years.
All I ask to Next Limit is Please: Listen at this message! (do not erase)
Here I go:
The Maxwell Render Interface has redundant open mxs command, deppending on the rendering mode.
In case it is Cooperative mode the user should open the file from the network tab winddow.
In case it is a single render the user should open the file using the upper left FILE button.
This redundant option do not help the user, but creates a tricky trap, for beguiners, since this behavious is against the user INTUITION.
The solution should be: to have a single file/open mxs button with two options inside: a) cooperative b) single.
Deppending on the user choise, the part of the User Interface that wll NOT be usefull, should change to gray colour, showing that it would be not activated. Then the user can explore the possible options without the risk of falling in any trap.
This User Interface problem has been a constant in Maxwell Render design. I have personaly explained this several times to NL personel, without success. Perhaps I was not clear eenough. I hope this time it will be understood.
The User Interface is a VITAL part of the software, and is closely related to the learning curve!
I understand that maxwell render, should be as easy as taking a phograph. I agree with this concept!
But if you design the camera with the butons in the wrong places, it will be very unconfortable to use!
This is the case with Maxwell Render and Maxwell Studio Interface design.
It is obvios that Next Limit is concerned about design, because both interfaces looks great at fist sight. They are carefully designed from the aesthetic viewpoint, but are not functional, because the graphic design was more important than functionality. I hope the moderators of this forums will not erase this message, as it happened with otherpreviouss to this one.
The idea of these messages is pointing the weak points that conspires with the Maxwell Render claim: as aesy as taking a photo! I really hope Next Limit will change their politic and listen to these points, for their and our benefit!
In a way, I suspect they know that something is wrong, since the promise for V2, is a new redesigned Interface....
What seems not faair for previous users, is that we should upgrade to get rid of the tricky unfunctional interface of version 1.7... Of course this is MY PERSONAL OPINION; and I do not expect everybody to agree wth me, but all I ask is the right to tell my opinion, even if this is not the NL opinion. This is called respect for the user. It iis also my right as user.
Sincerely Yours
Ernesto
