I got a problem with a rgb-image when I want to save it for web. the colors in the web preview don't look as good as the psd

the original is in srgb and I don't have any clue about color profiles
what can I do to make the web image look the same as in photoshop?

Probably because the original is in CMYK mode, not RGB. If you first switch it to RGB then save for web it should look like the original.

hmm, you're right. the CMYK must be the problem.
My screenshot shows an cmyk-jpg, but the original file I got is rgb. BUT: under 'View -> Proof Setup' there is 'Working CMYK' selected, which looks great. When I switch to 'Monitor RGB' there, the image looks dull. How can I convert the image to make it look like the 'Working CMYK' setting?

those color settings are killing me ... can't anybody invent a system that works with having to read books with several hundred pages to understand it?
my next step would be to grab my digicam and take a photo of the screen ...
