Any features you'd like to see implemented into Maxwell?

For what app? You can use it in MAX (Hair ->mesh)

exactly, just clone your hair put them on 2 different layer convert 1 to a mesh and freeze the other layer, that way you can re-edit your hairstyle later and just make a new mesh. That is in Max of course I dont know about maya

wow the dog "quality" is close to perfect.. if I did not know it was a render.. well well... and the funny thing is that I used to have my brave Dog Tara just looking like the one there.... Fantastic.. I thought the chimpanzee done by...? (my memory is gone.. hehe) but this dog is 5 miles better...

Thanks for the link...

Indeed, the dog looks great....

I use Max and hair and fur seems more like a modeling tool... I mean you have to define the area and then define the way it looks and then the renderer understands and does what has to be done...
Maxwell has no modeling or modeling-like tools...
For example, I 've used Kerkythea, a free renderer (biased and unbiased methods) and there is a great tool there called instances brush... You pick an object then another one and you start "painting" instances of the object1 on object2 having control of size of brush, orientation and scale...This is a kind of modeling tool... and it creates instances...
There is nothing like that in Maxwell and of course it would be great to have something like that... Imagine painting a forest on a terrain...
I don't think we get a clear answer but I would like Nicole or someone else to tell us something...

well .. hair and fur is a special case.. and certainly needs some type of modeling tools.. but what i mean is that maxwell should support fibres or hair from curves as it's a standard in other apps.

but for those who don't know: 3delight is a renderman compliant render engine ..

So, is this a known issue?

Thanks a lot for your response, I will update and […]

did you tried luxCore?
