I had this escene in my head for years. Finally I took the time and spend a week working on this image. I did extensive research about the real cruxificcion -different from the classical conception- and this is my interpretation of what I belive the cruxificcion was like. I did the modeling in 3ds max 7.5 and z-brush 2. Texturing in deep paint 3d and photoshop, and rendering in maxwell 1.1.33 alpha. I hope you like it. Thanks !

And i see you got the white dove in there too.. nice touch!

If you don't mind me pointing out at two things i'd like to do that.. the sky, it don't feel quite right. And also there's no stab wound to his side, atleast it's not visible on the side towards the cam. It might be on the other side of him tho.. but these things are just minor issues, no biggie.

Thanks Maximus ! Yes, the wound is in the other side, but you can barely see it bellow the rigth pectoralis. The sky needs a little more light, but it was very tricky. I´ll do it better in the next

i just think it would be extremely difficult to nail someones feet like that, even if they were heavily sedated at the time. The lighting is nice and dramatic, but his skin needs more work, the color shades are too even and looks like plastic. If you desaturate it a bit also....the lack of bodyhair you could probably take care of it with a texture. The hair is great!
Did you model the whole character or is it a Poser mesh/based on it? You have to specify these things or certain people will get very upset, especially if you say you did the modeling

Jejeje, you are right, the skin it´s very hard to get it right, especially in maxwell at thi stage. And yes, I did the model basic shape in max and a lot of fine tuning in z-brush 2. The hair is max 7.5 fur turned to geometry. Thanks for watching

Thanks a lot tom. Maybe you will not belive this guys, but my image it´s just been banned in CGtalk. They say they don´t accept religious images, but they have plenty of them in their gallery. I started a thread in their site calling them discriminating and inviting the people to see it and judge. I think they will bann me for life, hehehehe. waht do you think ?? is my image offensive ?

i can't accept any banning purpose. i believe in no religion and jesus has no
meaning for me, too. art accept no limits and the real artists must be open-minded

p.s: in other hand i respect anyone who believes in anything and i respect if they feel bad about this image, you're welcome, but if you think you're about art and if you are CGTalk, this makes you funny to ban for any reason, nudity, religious etc. Shut that site and don't call yourself you're dealing with art.

My dear friends, as ludi says, religion is each own decision. I am a beliver myself, but my intention in posting this image is purely artistic. I don´t want to start any religious debate or anything, just to share my work with you my fellow artists. dear friends, no one have to feel offended to look such images here.
i have great respect to believers and i understand if they hurt.
this is a paradox because here's two situations:
1) some feel offended because this thing we called art hurts them sometimes.
2) we (i even dunno who we are) feel offended when someone wants to ban for any reason.
here, everyone knows i'm about the 2nd one.
so this is a paradox, there will be always one side feel offended.
IMHO (not to offend) personally i think these kind of worries would carry us to nowhere.
this is art in the end and whoever wants to ban art i would be there.

Your depiction of crucifixion is very accurate. And the nailing method at the feet and ankles is correct. The only thing is that his thumbs would have been drawn against the palms of his hands due to the nails being driven through that particular part of the wrist.

His body is too clean though. Historical records (the Romans documented all executions) say Jesus was given 40 lashes with a cat of nine tails, a particularly sadistic implement that consisted of leather strands with bits of metal at the ends.

He also looks rather "buff" for someone who lead such a modest life. I would imagine him to be thinner and with a darker complexion.

Here is a negative of a black and white photograph of the Shroud of Turin, it's quite an astonishing reference as to what a crucified person went through.

Ehm.. i just read they banned your post on CGTalk, that's just not right! but i can understand they do it as they don't wanna get in trouble with religious fanatics due to the wars happening now. However art is art..
You might have better luck posting it on CGChannel's gallery instead, they had another christ on the cross type image on the frontpage this morning so it should be ok with their more relaxed policy on this somewhat sensitive subject of religion.
