i recently upgraded to XP64 and with it installed x64 version of max 2009. It chews up memory like there's no tomorrow..... Just trying to pan around and zoom will cause large scenes to crash...... and that's with 16GB of fully buffered ecc ram installed...

so far all i've been able to find is that deleting the AutoCamMax.gup from stdplugs may solve the issue. Even though i believe that plug is related to the F*&^% view cube which isn't even enabled. Also tried reverting to openGL but still chewing up memory and crashing once it's had enough.

Anyone else has had similar issues with Max2009 x64? I'm hoping there's a solution other than upgrading to "Look how fancy my interface is Max 2010" :x

I also have the same problem when I use the mouse wheel to zoom or pan the scene. It always crashes max. I am not sure that is an issue exclusively with xp64 it happened this xp32 bit too. If any body else can found the reasom of this bug I would lo to know the workaround.
thanks

brian, yes only with the heavy ones. I deleted the AutoCamMax.gup file, and made sure I had latest driver and that seems to be working so far. But MAN! now my blood pressure rises whenever I'm about to pan or zoom. Makes me wonder what other kind of crap is in there that doesn't need to be.

wagurto, this has been helpful. scroll down to "performance" >
