Bubbaloo wrote:Really , when you look at the way some other companies do upgrades every freakin' 12 months and charge an arm and a leg for it, we are really lucky. How long did we get free upgrades from Version 1 to 1.7.1? Maxwell has now evolved into Version 2 and when you try it, you will want to buy it. Will it be perfect? No. It will keep evolving, like all good software. Keep posting bug reports, the guys at NL are very good at prioritizing the fixes.
Yeah this is very true mate!!!

I feel like eating humble pie now! I whinge like a banchie sometimes , I bought in at the beta stage and for that they gave me two licenses I think! and what like 5 years later I really haven't spent a cent more on maxwell except maybe some tears and hair from time to time!

Your completely right mate, time to cough up for me, I'll go without beer for a while!

In my opinion, Next Limit should provide a full working software free o bugs, before anouncing a new version 2.

Even today we have problems with Studio, with the sun location, related to ground rotation and related to certain locations as argentina, where it seems that it is the night at 11 Am. In adition to this we have a rendering resolution fixed bug in the maya pluggin. All this discovered in a couple of minutes, using the software after 2 years, hoping that it should be time to get a working tool.

After all this problems, I am very concerned just thinking about buying a new version, when the current is not finished.
Eresto
there are too many variables to create an application that can run everywere, everymachine, everysystem, everyuser.
i think there's is no program that we can define "100% complete and bug free" if we take account of every possible bug.
and the bugs of our installed maxwell are not so deadly. you can 'easily' workaround them.

think about windows op.sys. .... or ALL autodesk programs. we shouldn't pay them for new version from early 90s'! :D :D :D

So, you think that getting a stcked output resolution is not a problem.
I disagree: My Maya Pluggin in Wxp64 export to Maxwell 1.7 to a fixed resolution 1054 x 721.

The technical support people, ignore my problem and recomend me to read the manual again.

In my other machine Wxp32, using Maxwell 1.6 it works fine, but I have to deal with other bugs.

This is just one example....

One thing is a software which has some bugs, that aren´t noticeable in years, but when you detect the bugs the first 10 minutes you play with it, this in another matter.

I am really disapointed, because of the product itself, and because of the technical support.
I am not playing, I just need a working tool, and tried the diferent versions from time to time with the hope it will be a working tool.

Imagine, I wated 3 hours trying to set up a sun configuration, because the SUN icon in studio is wrong. How am I supposed to use it like that! it is like a car with a wrong gas meter, or a wrong speed meter!

No mater what you may think, these are basic important things that cannot be wrong in a working software!

The "technical support staff" didn't ignore your problem. I answered your problem here. If my answer didn't solve the issue, you can tell me there and we can continue looking into it. We cannot reproduce your problem on our systems and nobody else has complained about this behavior. It's not a bug which we've been ignoring for years, as you suggested in another thread. I'm not even sure it's a bug at all until you confirm that you've checked the "test resolution" setting and it's not set to "camera panel".

If this is indeed a bug in the 1.7 plug-in, we will release a fix for it. Nobody ever said that support for the 1.x version has been dropped, so I really don't understand your attitude. Moreover, it's a bit unreasonable to expect immediate solutions when your problem reports are of the form "I get all kind of errors". If you really want solutions, post the actual error messages, so we have something to start from. I've always tried to address bugs as quickly as possible, but I don't read minds and I'm not particularly fond of having to extract information out of people by force. We can do this useless dance if you want - I get an error! What does it say? - or we can use our common sense and skip directly to the part where you give me relevant information and we cooperate to find a solution as quickly as possible.

As do I. Not complaining now, however. Speed improvements, Modo plugin - not bad. In fact: yum!
