Yanada, to be perfectly frank with you, every news there is about Maxwell, or every opportunity you have, you take the most negative points or post threads about competing products, even in the same thread as news about Maxwell, on the Maxwell forum! If it's too much to appeal to common sense, then I can appeal to politeness....perhaps.

Yanada, you're right the icons are based on the theme I've suggested earlier as we had quite a lot positive feedback about it so far. But, we give away images folder to master your own skin so, it's not the end of the world. It's not themes which makes professional applications great. I'm sure, you will eventually discover the benefits of new user interface.

I'm a fence sitter!

I like the new look interface! I'm one of those who thinks the old interface looks cool too! I must say I love opening Maxwell in front of client with all dialogues open (not the way I work) but it blows clients away that there is so much that needs to be set up - makes me feel they can see that they are paying for something that needs a lot of work and know how!

Every wednesday I meet with a client to work on their large home range, I run about 30 material and style tests directly from sketchup during those days all without issue, though then to finish the job I do a lot of work in studio which can give me nothing but grief at times! I'm just happy they don't see this side, though it would prove why I cant give them the finished product next day!

I can whinge and whinge here like Yanada about things that don't seem right, that is a customers right I think! Yet if I ever get into discussions on other forums about renderers I back Maxwell till the cows come home! But guys this is the maxwell forums - better to air issues one has here!

Mihai and Tom, guys it is hard you have to admit to be cranky toward you guys for you are both the ones here to help us and very much so you both do! But if people are unhappy they want to be heard!

As they always say it's better to have people talking about you even if negative rather than never talking about you at all, it means they have your attention! You can then take the opportunity to prove them wrong!

Hey guys I'm interested as to whether Next Limit would still be proposing any further support to V1.? in the near future towards both studio and relevant plugins?

I'm hoping work picks up a bit in Australia given the announcement yesterday that we have technically avoided following the rest of the world into recession, if not times are tough and updating may be some time off for now!

Well we can live in hope!

After the announcement the market raged, the dollar rose against the greenback and today everyone was smiles, cafes full, people shopping etc, and yet the weather was crap!

Aussies historically only need a slender crack in the wall and everyone will squeeze to get through it!

Excuse my lack of enthusiasm here!
In my opinion, Next Limit should provide a full working software free o bugs, before anouncing a new version 2.

Even today we have problems with Studio, with the sun location, related to ground rotation and related to certain locations as argentina, where it seems that it is the night at 11 Am. In adition to this we have a rendering resolution fixed bug in the maya pluggin. All this discovered in a couple of minutes, using the software after 2 years, hoping that it should be time to get a working tool.

After all this problems, I am very concerned just thinking about buying a new version, when the current is not finished.

Ernesto, no large software is bug free. I understand your point of view, but the things you mention are not big things, certainly not any kind of show-stopping malfunctions. Sun location is easy to configure through the drop down presets, the KML option, and even plugging in some lat and long coordinates. Plus you can see the location of the sun in real time in the viewport.

I can say I've been testing Version 2 for a while now, and I'll be first in line to buy it. :D

Really , when you look at the way some other companies do upgrades every freakin' 12 months and charge an arm and a leg for it, we are really lucky. How long did we get free upgrades from Version 1 to 1.7.1? Maxwell has now evolved into Version 2 and when you try it, you will want to buy it. Will it be perfect? No. It will keep evolving, like all good software. Keep posting bug reports, the guys at NL are very good at prioritizing the fixes.
