Good point. Yet, as a former marketing professional, I too am surprised about the way NL goes about this "partial reveal" thing. If it were me, I'd either put up a "next reveal date" at the end of each reveal, or not have any reveals at all. The current approach is a bit half@ssed, and possibly counterproductive. Now ... this is not criticism, this is advice. Free of charge!

Liked what I saw, though.

how was it badly recieved? (I don't read CGTalk)

If I read the comments over there correctly, it wasn't so much that the reveal was received badly. Lots of people over there just don't like unbiased rendering.

It's an old and fairly useless discussion. Why choose anyway? I'm not a pro, and even I got both biased and unbiased renderers. Both come in handy. End of story.

I'm a pro, and I do 90% of my renders biased (LW, Modo, VRay, fRender, FormZ), just because it would mean too much work to get exactly the image I want and after that also accounting for my clients wishes. For the other 10% Maxwell is very welcome. Besides that for the biased render I often use Maxwell on rough models to see how lighting should come out, by letting a simple animation cook out and even use these images as superimposing lighting/glow layers in PhotoShop. Consequently I do see a future for a hybrid renderer (both biased and unbiased) so you don't have to make a choice too early ;)

Hey, it was just a couple of guys there arguing back and forth like fools. Take the opportunity to clear up any questions or doubts they have instead of getting swept up in dumb arguments. I know it's hard, but some people just can't be convinced. You feed their fires by getting angry. They thrive on it. Overall, most people who use other render engines (biased) are curious about how Maxwell works and if it can benefit them and their workflow.

Do you know how many years takes from vray 1.47 to 1.5 ?
why have a tight deadline on releases? Is not that they have any competition

no major features to implement and each release is top quality, almost bug free.

oh lets no forget the V-ray standalone project.

Ya I agree vlado works on many projects at once and they are all superior products. 1.47 was a pretty darn complete product if you ask me so the time spent getting to 1.5 was spent creating very complex things that aren't done in other engines and refining what he already had in Vray. Also he is the first to release plug updates when new software updates show up.

vray isn't the only thing being worked on over there ;).
