to use the power of maxwell's displacement in animation, some sort of caching for static displaced objects is almost a must I am afraid.
When rendering complex scenes, i got times of 15min+ during the generation of displacement data.
It doesn't hurt when rendering stills, but basically doubles the time a single frame would need to render for an animation. (assuming max 20min/frame)
I have no clue if it is possible the way maxwell works, but it would be supercool to see all these details animated
